I am a Scotsman with a French wife and we have left our former home of Lossiemouth, a small former fishing town in the North East of Scotland to move to France and take up a new life.

We moved here at the end of June 2015 and have renovated a farmhouse which is over 150 years old and has walls that are three feet thick built using traditional methods (called pise in French) – the picture below shows a typical building constructed in this method.

An example of pise

I decided to write this blog to keep my family, friends and former colleagues abreast of how we get on as we immerse ourselves into the culture that is France but to also share my life and anecdotes with anyone that is interested.

Enjoy – French Living
